This is an article I wrote after I went through some old portfolios and discovered that my grandfather, my mother and I have all painted almost exactly the same scene up at our cottage in Go Home Bay, Georgian Bay. Our three different styles are the result of the three different types of training we each recieved in different countries. My grandfather learned his craft in Italy in 1920, my mother in Beijing, China in 1948 and me in New York and Paris in the 1970s.
It's the same subject passed through three different cultural filters and techniques.
